Role overview:

Randstad Sourceright, a provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is recruiting Section Engineers for a leading Asset & Technology Solutions services company.

This role involves controlling a specific discipline within a section of the works and managing a team of Site Engineers within that same discipline.

 

Key Responsibilities

Core Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate the requirements of a safe system of work and suggest system improvements.
  • Strong team player with the ability to take ownership of tasks and communicate effectively with staff and operatives at all levels.
  • Proactive and capable of working on own initiative, seeking opportunities aligned with the level of responsibility.
  • Must hold a current driving license and CSCS Card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualification is essential.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E)

  • Familiar with the Permit System and experienced in actively raising Permits to Work.
  • Proactive in identifying potential hazards, implementing necessary corrective actions, and knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Good level of environmental awareness, able to provide guidance to others on site constraints.

Engineering and Dimensional Control

  • Proficient in complex setting out.
  • Ability to resolve issues related to control and information provided on site.
  • Skilled in reviewing drawings, identifying issues, and proposing effective construction solutions.
  • Capable of mentoring Site Engineers on dimensional control, technical interpretation of drawings and specifications, and communicating this information to site operatives.

Quality Assurance

  • Understands and has experience in producing and tracking quality assurance documentation.
  • Actively drives the production of high-quality handover documentation and information.
  • Strong knowledge of construction tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications to instruct others on required testing.

Programme & Productivity

  • Able to create short-term programmes based on the main stage programmes.
  • Experienced in producing 'as-built' records for short-term programmes and providing weekly updates to the team.
  • Strong construction process knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Structures, or Roadworks.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrates advancing leadership skills.
  • Evidence of using effective independent judgment.
  • Making good progress towards professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, IHT).
